Marge Fisher has a better way -- Ski-ups. Ski-ups are the answer to the tiresome way of carrying skis on your shoulders or wrestling them into a ski rack. These small, handy, plastic devices are a ski and pole storage and carrying system.

You can mount them on the wall for storage (shown below), or use them with your ski poles as a ski carry. The ski poles act as the handle for the skis, or if they're too light for some heavier skis, you can turn them over and use a ski as a handle.

Either way, ski ups are the easiest way to carry and store cumbersome skis when you can't put them on a ski rack. Slip the skis into the ski up and side them into a bag, and they'll stay together easily on a train (to Big Mountain!) , on an airplane, or in your car.
